JUSTICE, LIBERTY, FREEDOM – FOR ALL
As declared in the Constitution, Bill of Rights and Declaration of Independence; freedom is not something granted by government, it is a natural right that courageous Americans have fought and died to protect since 1776.
We stand on this foundation.
As the founders of our nation brought to the world, this circular “shield” protest sign proclaims the unifying values of America. This protest sign is not about promoting a given policy. It is about the values in our foundation from which all policies that strengthen us spring.
The protest sign shows the loon, which flies in all 50 states and lives in air, water, and land. The loon represents the power of diversity that fuels our creations. The loon, in a clear sky, is circled by a red, white and blue band that contains 50 stars, one for each state.
The large star at the top represents the American people’s combined strength throughout a history of putting themselves in harm’s way to safeguard democracy and stand for Freedom, Justice and Liberty for All.
Freedom – Our government’s laws and role in ensuring freedom for all, not just a few, as prescribed in our Constitution and Bill of Rights.
Justice – Equal treatment under the law, for all.
Liberty – Liberty from the tyranny of unequal taxation, from armies in our communities and in our homes, from coercion, retribution, and from empowering the few over the all, as set forth in our Declaration of Independence.
From a soldier – My father, a Marine Staff Sergeant in WWII, who led a platoon charged to collect and defuse unexploded ordnance from battlefields, left me with this thought: “We don’t fight because we hate fascism. We fight because we love freedom.”
Regarding the midterms: You may have noticed that with each election, Republicans lead with values, not legislation. While Democrats lead with legislation, about which even Democrats disagree. Given that we need all Democrats and Independents to win the majority that’s needed, I hope Democrats can focus on values too.
As history is our teacher: Values unite. Policies fight.

Pre-order to Buy
I’ve gotten requests for over 200 of these signs. That’s far too many for me to continue printing on my home printer and mount onto strong backing for protests. A local print shop can make them though.
The cost for a quality image on a 6mm (~1/4″) thick, 23″ circle of foam core board is around $25.00. I’ve learned that hard plastic is not allowed in some cities. I’ll post instructions about how foam core board can be beefed up if your city allows it, though.
Shipping adds $12 to the Midwest and $21 to the coasts. I need to know how many to order. If, after looking at the cost, you want one or more, click on “Contact” in the page heading.
To pre-order (no credit card needed) enter your name, email and State.
If you’re in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area, I’ll arrange a time some Sunday morning when locals can pick their signs up at the ‘Park and Ride’ lot at the Whipple Federal Building. When all have their “shield” protest signs, we can walk down to the detention center, wave them at ICE vehicles, and dance to music from my boombox.
They can also be mailed.
In the message box of the Contact form, let me know how many signs you want and whether you’re picking up at Whipple or want it mailed (so I can know how many boxes to buy).
After I have a count, I’ll order them. It will take the printer about 1 1/2 weeks to do the job. In the meantime, I have to figure out how you can pay for yours. I don’t want to make this a business, so if you can recommend someone with an Etsy or other shop who might be interested in handling sales and shipping, please share your thoughts in the message box. It’s why I’m only asking for preorders now.
After the count and payment details are known, I’ll send you an email so you can use your credit card to buy what you want.
The sooner you go to the contact page and let me know your thoughts, the sooner we can do this.
Best to All!
